FINE stands for, Family and Infant Neurodevelopmental Education. FINE is the only program that gives neonatal professionals of all disciplines opportunities to develop knowledge and skills in steps that can be paced to their career needs, from orientation for beginners, to developing competent practice or leadership. FINE programs assist to bridge the gap between theory and practice with a range of learning opportunities that can be adapted to different settings.
FINE Level 1 is considered a foundational, education program that mixes formal, informal and interactive teaching methods to introduce the scope and evidence behind infant and family centered developmental care, to identify gaps in knowledge and skills and to share ideas and question assumptions about practice.

Venue location: MS Teams.
Program content and Pre-learning Components
The program consists of two components:
- Pre-learning: pre-recorded lectures, videos and quizzes (approximately 3 hours of content)
- 8 hour in-person workshop
Completion of the pre-learning is required by the 23rd October (10am) and is a mandatory requirement to attend the 8 hour virtual workshop.
At the completion of the program you will receive a certificate with 12 hours Continuing Professional Development.
Who should do this training?
FINE Level 1 was developed by health professionals who are experts in individualised developmental care for health professionals working in the neonatal setting. It is suitable for:
- Hospital Doctors: Interns, Resident Medical Officers, Career Medical Officers, Registrars Fellows and Neonatologists.
- Nurses: Newly employed Registered Nurses, Registered Nurses. Clinical Nurse Consultants, Nurse Practitioners, Nurse Educators and Nurse Managers.
- Midwives: working in or working across the neonatal unit.
- Health professionals: Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Speech Pathologists, Psychologists, Social Workers, Dieticians, Pharmacists, and any other allied health professional working in the neonatal unit.
- Students: Medical, Nursing, and Allied health students.

Course Fee
The FINE Level 1 Program is currently priced at $400+GST.
There are no discounts available. Limited number of scholarship offered annually: Rural scholarships and First Nationals Neonatal Healthcare Professionals Scholarships
On successful completion
You will be
- Provided with a certificate of completion
- Enrolled in the FINE Graduate group and receive monthly resources
- Opportunity to further increase your neurodevelopmental education knowledge by completing FINE 2
